Adventures in Babywearing ~ Ergo Edition

Yea! My Ergo came in the mail yesterday so we got to take it for a spin this morning. We cleaned up the kitchen, vacuumed, and went for a short walk all with her just hangin out back there playing with my hair and tickling the back of my neck.

Babywearing has been so great for us. Lucy loves to be held and I can get a lot done with her in a carrier while being close to her. But this has caused a bit of an obsession with buying contraptions to put her in. I am now up to six different carriers. One ring sling, one regular sling, a moby wrap, a mei tai, Bjorn, and now the Ergo. They all serve different purposes and are used at different times. The sling is great for quick trips to the store. It's small and easy to keep in the car, pop her in and off we go. The Mei Tai is great for the front carry. Lucy isn't too happy with being in a back carry with that. The moby has been great while Lucy was smaller. It's a bit stretchy so now that she is close to 20 lbs. it starts to stretch out while I'm wearing her. It is by far the most comfortable, though. The Bjorn was used a lot by Jimmy for several months. It's not the best. I don't have a lot of good stuff to say about it.

The Ergo can be worn either on the front, side, or back. I got it mainly for a back carry now that Lucy is a bit bigger. It puts the weight of the baby on your hips and is so comfortable. I'm hoping to use it a lot for hiking this summer with her and for getting stuff done around the house. The only problem I see right now with it is that I am leaning forward a lot while I'm using it. I'll have to work on that. Oh, and where the waist strap hits me it causes a bit of a muffin top. I'm working on that too.

  2. Oh, I KNOW! My patapum brings out the muffin top on me. Heeee! You'd think they would've taken mummy tummy into consideration and at least kept the waist strap really wide even where it buckles.

I LOVE to see another babywearing mama!
