Lucy, Month Nine

Lucy,

You have become such a busy baby. Except for the times that you are sleeping you are in constant motion. I am amazed at how you have mastered crawling. You will sometimes kick it into high gear and tear across the floor at nearly a gallop.

Your personality is coming out more than ever now. You have the best giggles. You love to “talk”. Mama and Dada have become some of your favorite words (yea!). You seem to be fearless and have been pulling yourself up quite a bit. You don’t even cry when you bang your head (usually). You really dislike it when mom or dad say no to you. For example when you are crawling toward the heat vent to stick your fingers in it again and we say “no” you immediately stop, look at us and proceed to have a complete meltdown. It would break my heart if it wasn’t so cute. You have also started to become shy when in new situations. When there are a bunch of people around that you don’t know you will get really quiet and your eyes get really big. So sweet.

Things you love right now…mom, dad, ellie, milk, anything with wheels or buttons, tearing up magazines, pulling Kleenexes out of the box, door knobs, opening doors and drawers, feeding yourself big chunks of food, teething biscuits, going to the mall, going for walks outside, finding little holes to stick your fingers in, anything that isn’t a baby toy, baths, sleeping (yippee!), your friend Lena, pulling off your socks, and sucking your thumb.

Things you dislike right now…having your clothes or diaper changed, being spoon fed with pureed foods, getting in your car seat, having your face or nose wiped and being told “no”.

I am a couple days late writing this because we were in Chicago for the weekend on your nine month birthday. It was so much fun to get away as a family, our first vacation together. On the way home your dad and I were talking about how different this vacation was than others we have taken when it was just me and him. Even though it was different and some things were much more challenging, it is somehow so much more complete now that you are here with us.

Sweetie pie, you are such an amazing little person. I have been so blessed watching you grow and change in so many ways these past nine months. You are completely remarkable.

Love,
Mommy
