Weekend in Chicago

We spent the weekend in Chicago! Our first family vacation. Wow, it is way more work with a baby. We loaded up our Jeep on thursday morning with our little family (Me, Jimmy, Lucy and Ellie) and just the bare necessities for a 3 day trip and it absolutely filled that truck. 

With the exception of a speeding ticket on the way there, Lucy teething and getting a cold at the same time (fussing, not sleeping at all), me getting a cold, and Jimmy not feeling great, it was a pretty good trip. Ok, we had a rough start but we ended up having a great time.

Thursday we got in to Dena's condo late in the afternoon. We unpacked, got settled in, checked around the condo to make sure everything was ok. It had been rented so we were making sure nothing needed to be fixed. We walked to a little place near the condo for dinner that night. Lucy was so extremely tired and fussy and we didn't take into account the time change which she completely disregarded and wanted to be put in bed at 6:30 Chicago time. So we didn't make it through our meals, had it wrapped up and headed back to the condo. 

Friday we went to Shedd Aquarium. Lucy had so much fun looking at all the fish. She was in a much better mood and so happy to be out doing something fun. 

Friday night we were invited over to Curtis and Allison's house for dinner. Lucy had so much fun playing with Kaia, their 2 1/2 year old. It was great to see them again. I think it had been over a year since we saw them last.

Saturday was a gorgeous, warm, sunny day. We met Curtis, Allison and Kaia at the Lincoln Park Zoo. I don't know if Lucy saw much of the animals but she loved getting out and seeing all the people. Our friends Channing and Sarah came out to walk around the zoo with us too. It had been a while since we saw them too and this was their first time meeting Lucy.
