Lucy, Month Ten

Lucy,

You are quickly starting to go from being a baby to being a little girl. I have officially become one of those moms who keeps telling everyone how fast time is going by. It seems like just a few weeks ago that you were a little lump of baby unable to do anything. Now you are all over the place and learning new things every day.

Just recently you started singing and dancing. When music comes on, especially something you are familiar with you love to “sing” along and do a little baby dance. Peek-a-boo has become a favorite game. The second I start singing it you look at me, grin and start clapping your hands together. You also love to be spun around and flipped upside down, both of which make your mommy very dizzy.

Your crawling continues to get quicker and more coordinated. You are pulling yourself up on everything and have even let go a few times and balanced on your own. Then you realize that you are standing on your own, get a surprised look on your face and grab the nearest object. You love to play with the dishwasher or refrigerator. Emptying the pantry has also become one of your favorite things. You also enjoy emptying dresser drawers, laundry baskets, your toy box, etc. You love to play chase. When I say “I’m gonna get you” it sends you into a fit of giggles.

You have decided that you like food! It has to be things that you can pick up and feed yourself but you are actually eating. You love bananas, sweet potatoes, pasta, bread, puffs, and cheese the best. You have decided peas are something that should never be consumed and show us how you feel about them by flinging them off of your tray. You love to share your food with mom and dad. Of course we eat whatever you are offering, even if it is soggy with baby drool and sticky from whatever else was in your little hand.

You really don’t like it when your mom or dad leave the room. Usually you protest and try to chase down the offender. The diaper changes have become less of a struggle this month. I think you might have realized that having this done comes with the reward of a clean, dry diaper. You still don’t like to have your clothes changed and usually let me know. Loudly.

My little bean, some days I look at you and can’t believe how much you are changing and growing. Just the other day I went into your room to check on you while you were napping and I couldn’t believe how much of your crib you were filling up. I cried because it is all going by in a flash. You are so much fun to be around and I don’t think there is a better sound in the whole than hearing you giggle. I love you more than I ever thought I could love another person.

Love,
Mommy
