Total randomness for today

• I have been consumed with planning for Lucy's first birthday party for months. I might have gone over the top a little bit. I'm just having way waaaaaay too much fun. I just hope Lucy and all of her guests enjoy themselves as much as I have enjoyed putting it together.

• Of course, the week of her party I get IMPOSSIBLY busy at work. That's just how it goes. So somehow I have to manage to work 10 million hours this week, get my house cleaned, get the yard cleaned up, decorate the basement and outside, make and decorate 80 cupcakes and Lucy's baby cake, and try to be calm and happy and showered when our guests arrive.

• Did I mention that my baby girl is turning ONE THIS SATURDAY? I can't even believe it. If you could see me through your computer you would see the shocked look on my face. It's crazy.

• I have totally become a minivan convert. I know, I said it "I would never drive a minivan". I had no idea all the ways motherhood would change me. My outlook on everything is so completely different. This Horribly Embarrassing vehicle is sooo convenienty wonderful. It's kind of like driving a big sofa. And it looks like a dolphin. BUT I can change a diaper in the back without having to be a contortionist (and for you moms, that means not using the impossibly gross changing tables in the mall.) And I can fit groceries in the car without having to pack them around the baby (yikes).

• I am the kind of terribly awful person who forgets my favorite people's birthdays. I didn't wish Auntie a happy birthday yesterday. No card, no phone call. Terrible. I have no excuse. I could say I was too busy but that doesn't sound any better. I even had it in my calendar AND was reminded on facebook. Ugh.

• I have the bachelorette on in the background while I work tonight. Pitiful. It is so weird and unnatural. That's all I have to say.

• I'm having a hard time coming up with things to feed Lucy. It usually ends up being a random mix of food for her. Tonight she had the following. In this order...1. a handful of organic puffs (to keep her busy while I tried to figure out what to give her), 2. some organic blueberry yobaby yogurt, 3. organic mixed vegetables, 4. an organic chicken sausage, 5. a handful of Trader Joe's cheese puffs. I need to get better at meal planning for Lucy.

• Really, this bachelorette show is so awkward. Ugh. I need to get back to work.

  1. When I heard there would be ponies I knew this party was going to be big. I'm excited! Know that I will get enough enjoyment out of Hannah's first pony ride to make it all worth it. :D

It's rough trying to find things to feed the kiddo, you're right. We do the same thing: give her something to keep her busy while we figure something out. Sometimes we don't eat what we should (and she should definitely NOT be eating) so I try to keep some "toddler meals" on hand.
